Quick Start Guide: Creating Your First Mowing Area

In this quick guide, we'll show you how to map out an area for your robot mower so you can define exactly where you want it to work on your section.

Step 1: Access the Mapping Interface

  1. Open the Motion app and connect to your robot mower
  2. Tap on the picture of the mower
  3. Select Maps from the menu

Pro tip: Rotate your phone horizontally so you can control the mower with your phone more easily.

Step 2: Start Area Creation

  1. Click Create
  2. Select Area from the options

Important preparation: Before starting, make sure the mower is positioned at the edge of the area you want to map out.

Step 3: Begin Mapping

  1. Select Start Mapping a Task Area
  2. Use pinch gestures on your screen to zoom in on the map for better precision
  3. Get a clear view of where your mower is positioned on your section

Step 4: Manual Control for Perimeter Tracing

Use the on-screen joysticks to manually control the mower around the perimeter:

  • Left joystick: Drives the mower forward and backward
  • Right joystick: Steers the mower left to right

Navigation tips:

  • If you go off course, simply reverse and adjust your path before continuing
  • As you drive, watch the app in real time to see what's being mapped out
  • Keep mapping until you return to your starting point

Step 5: Completion and Saving

  1. The app will notify you when mapping is complete
  2. You'll be asked if you'd like to save the mowing area
  3. Once saved, the area will:
    • Turn green on your map
    • Be assigned an area number
    • Be ready for scheduled mowing

How to Modify Existing Mowing Areas

Made a mistake? Need to extend your area? Here's how to make adjustments:

  1. Click on Edit in the Maps section
  2. Select the task area you want to modify
  3. Control the robot to the perimeter where you want to make changes
  4. Click Start Modify

Crucial requirement: You must start and finish modifications on part of the old perimeter for changes to take effect.

Ready for Automated Mowing

Once you've finished creating or modifying your area and saved the map, your robot mower will now automatically mow within this defined area every time you have it scheduled to run.

That's it! Your robot mower is now set up to handle your lawn maintenance automatically within the boundaries you've defined.
