It was an accident so severe that he came dangerously close to losing his leg entirely. Since then, Neil has endured a journey no one should ever have to face. Surgeons have spent years working to rebuild his leg, using rods, plates, screws, and now an external frame. He’s been bound to crutches for more than three years, navigating setback after setback. The road ahead is still long with another surgery on the horizon to remove the frame once his bones finally fuse. During all this, even simple tasks became monumental challenges. One of the biggest? Keeping his steep, sprawling lawn under control. Neil’s 1300 square metre lawn quickly became overgrown and when we heard Neil’s story, we were genuinely devastated for him. No one battling such a tough recovery should have to stress about lawn maintenance on top of everything else. We knew we had to help.

Robomate were honoured to donate a Luba 2 robotic mower to Neil, giving him a safe, hands‑off solution to manage his challenging terrain. Now, he’ll never have to climb onto a ride‑on mower again. His Luba 2 handles the steep slopes and thick kikuyu grass with ease. For the first time in years, Neil’s lawn is looking better than ever. But more importantly, he’s gained one less thing to worry about while he focuses on healing.
