Robomate is beyond excited to annonuce a key addition to our already extensive robot vacuum range – Dreame Technologies. (Yes, it’s pronounced “Dream-Ee” not “Dream” as I wrongly thought for a while) . In fact, we’re even more excited to welcome the L10 Pro, D10+, Z10 Pro and W10 into New Zealand (currently you can only buy the range overseas.)
We’ve already published our review videos of the L10 Pro and Z10 Pro. To say we’re impressed in an understatement! What we loved the most about this range is the ‘Quick Mapping’ feature built into the software, the LiDAR based navigation, the hair comb built into the main brush cleaning module and the force on the dual rotating mopping pads on the W10.
Dreame are yet another robot vacuum giant and we’re thrilled at their innovation so far – keep an ear out for the L10S Ultra that is about to land…
Introducing the range…
Here is the current Dreame range that we have in New Zealand, as noted above, we’re adding to it shortly! Until then, we’ve pulled out a few of the key benefits of each of the range so you can compare them against each other!

1. The Dreame Design
We really like the look of these robots. The build quality and materials used for the exterior is something that we noticed right away. The Z10 Pro and L10 Pro have a sheen coating which gives their dark undertones a classic look.
The W10 has a sleek white finish, the washing station is also designed quite well so it doesn’t take up too much room in the space!
The auto-empty stations on the L10 Pro and Z10 Pro are relatively compact (compared to some of the other models) and have a nice rounded finish which makes them relatively unobstrusive!
I also like how Dreame offer both products in white and black – it definitely gives you a bit more choice when trying to imagine the robot in your house!
2. Vacuuming performance
Only last year, we were impressed by 3,000 pa of suction on a robot vacuum and yet these models well surpass even that impressive figure. The entire Dreame range uses 4000pa of suction.
We love the pick-up ability on these robots – especially the D10+, L10 Pro and Z10 Pro. As you may have seen on our review videos, they’re great on hair. We’ve had some customers with rag-doll cats, they’ve tried a variety of different brands but crazily enough the Dreame robots have been the best at handling the hair!
If you look closely at the picture on the left, you may be able to slightly see the comb built into the main brush module.
Dreame give you the option of creating up to 3 floor plans – so all of these models will be able to handle medium – large homes seamlessly.
3. The Auto-Empty Station and Cleaning Station
The Dreame W10 has taken “hands free cleaning” to an entirely new level. This station lets the robot dock, and wash it’s mopping pads. It then dries the mop pads to make sure they don’t sit there damp for long periods of time. There is a 4L “clean water” tank and a “dirty water” tank.
The idea is that you fill up the clean water tank as and when necessary and the water that is washed through the mopping pads is filtered into the dirty tank – which you would be wise to empty more often that not (we can confirm if left for a while it will really start to stagnate).
The Z10 and D10+ have the standard auto-empty stations. Personally I think these look sleek and cool. They both have a 4L capacity dust-bin bag which allows you to go longer without changing the vacuum bag.
The L10 Pro doesn’t come with an auto-empty station but it does have a larger internal dustbin than most robots, so it will be able to vacuum slightly longer without filling up.
3. Navigation
All Dreame robots use LiDAR for positional navigation. They’re both methodical and gentle on walls and furniture. Their mapping capabilities are pretty amazing as well.
Other entry-level robots use random gyroscopic navigation which means the cleaning is pretty inefficient (they just randomly bump around the room cleaning whatever is in front of it). The movements on the L10 Pro, Z10 Pro, W10 and D10+ are precise and when it comes to walls and skirting boards which makes the robot very gentle.
The robots use a feature called ‘Quick Mapping’ which is dedicated to creating a floor plan on the robot’s first run. It is impressive to watch the robot drive in and out of rooms and navigate the lay of the land and then leave.
All the robots have virtual barriers, no-mop zones and 3D mapping.
4. Mopping
I’m glad to say that the W10 has very “active” and pressurised mops attached to the robot. The W10 has fibrous mopping pads which rotate at speed (I think Dreame states 180 times a minute). This is definitely a step up from the static mops that most robots have.
The L10 Pro, Z10 Pro and D10+ also have an attachable mopping plate. In all fairness, if mopping capabilities are a complete for priority to you, it may be worth considering an active mopping robot (vibrating, rotating or oscillating). All robots have adjustable water flow rates.
Have a look at our videos to watch both models mop in real time – we were pleased to note they all handled the sticky soy sauce extremely well. The W10 definitely excelled over other mopping robots in our opinion.
5. Obstacle avoidance
The obstacle avoidance on the L10 Pro and Z10 Pro is impressive. The two lasers on the front of the robot gives it enhanced “vision” which means it can build a 3D environment. Dreame state that most household objects, such as slippers and dustbins, are avoided earlier – which means you don’t really have to “robot-proof” your house quite as much as you need to on other robots.
In contrast, the W10 and the D10+ don’t have obstacle avoidance. This does mean they’ll be slightly more prone to bumping into objects
Summary and advice.
Overall, we’re excited to have Dreame join the robot game and think that the range takes them extremely neck and neck with other leading robotic brands. It all comes down to what is most suited to your home and what features you personally prioritise.
The sleek look and hair pick- up abiilty of these robots is a leading feature. The mopping pads on the W10 are impressive and if I had a home with all hard floor, this would definitely be something i’d consider. Again, the price of the Z10 is pretty unbeatable – an auto-empty robot with LiDAR and obstacle avoidance. The whole range can cope well with medium-large homes, and a variety of pets/human hair.
Feel free to leave us a question if you have any about the new Dreame range!
